This coffee comes from Leonides Castro García, a smallholder producer farming in the highlands of Oaxaca’s Mixteca region near Miramar de Yucuhiti. Leonides is part of Red de Miramar, a small network of neighboring farming families who work together to improve quality and access specialty markets while maintaining their independence.
Grown around 1,540 meters above sea level and composed of traditional varieties like Bourbon, Caturra, and Typica, this washed lot highlights the clarity and balance the region is known for. Cool mountain nights and slow cherry development help produce dense beans with layered sweetness and vibrant acidity.
In the cup, expect a bright and expressive profile with notes of apricot, grapefruit, and floral sweetness, supported by a chewy chocolate body and a clean citrus finish.
This is a coffee that shines across brew methods but especially rewards careful filter brewing, where its fruit and floral character can really open up.
